The blades rotate 180 degrees in ¾ turn of the shaft, so we get the same efficiency in reverse as in forward with the Max-Prop, (about 80% better than a fixed propeller according to the mfr).
WebDec 2, 2016 · With a straight shaft turboprop engine like a Garrett TPE331, this is not possible as feathering the props are controlled by the conditioning levers and also shut down the engines in the process. A free turbine turboprop would allow a person to feather the engines and then pull the power levers to the reverse position.
The purpose of varying pitch angle is to maintain an optimal angle of attack for the propeller blades, giving maximum efficiency throughout the flight regime. This reduces fuel usage. Only by maximising propeller efficiency at high speeds can the highest possible speed be achieved. Effective angle of attack decreases as airspeed increases, so a coarser pitch is required at high airspeeds. rambo health center zanesville ohioWebThe artifact is Model 23E50 Hamilton Standard quick-feathering hydromatic propeller, typical of many thousands produced from 1938 to 1945.
